Deputy Martin Kenny

Arrest made after incident at TD's house

Gardaí investigating an alleged incident at the County Leitrm home of a Sinn Féin TD have made an arrest.

A car reportedly smashed into the gates at the home of Deputy Martin Kenny at around 2am on Thursday morning. It's understood the Sinn Féin deputy was not at the Aughavas premises at the time of the incident.

Gardaí have arrested a man this morning.

Martin Kenny was a deputy for a constituency which included all of West Cavan, in addition to Counties Leitrim, Sligo and part of south Donegal, before the constituency boundaries were redrawn for the last general election.

A garda spokesperson said: "A man, aged in his late 40s was arrested this morning Friday 30th September, 2022 on suspicion of endangerment and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Carrick-On-Shannon Garda station.

"Investigations ongoing."
