Who deserves to be crowned the Cavan Business of the Year in 2022?

Nominations open for revamped awards

Nominations are invited for the 2022 Cavan Business and Tourism Awards. The event, which seeks to recognise excellence in business across the county, makes a welcome return post Covid.

There are seven categories in this year’s awards – Most Resilient Business, Best Family Business, Customer Experience Award, Not for Profit Award, Innovation Award, Best Cavan Tourism Experience and the overall Cavan Business of the Year accolade.

Two new categories Most Resilient Business and Best Family Business have been introduced this year.

Celt Editor, Linda O’Reilly, explains more: “Any business that’s still standing after the turmoil caused by the Covid-19 pandemic followed by a cost of living crisis, the impact of hyper inflation and rising input costs deserves great credit.

“The Most Resilient Business category has been introduced with all of that in mind. Cavan businesses and business people have always shown true grit and have weathered many storms. We want to celebrate their successes and thank them for their support.”

The Best Family Business category has been introduced following its success in other counties where sister titles in Celtic Media Group also run these awards.

“Whether that’s a family at the helm of a multinational, such as the Murtaghs in Kingspan or a small family-run shop or enterprise, this category is designed to celebrate and acknowledge businesses with family at their heart,” explained Ms O’Reilly.

Yvonne Jackson, advertising sales manager with The Anglo-Celt, thanked all the sponsors of this year’s awards – Slieve Russell Hotel, Ballyconnell; Cavan Local Enterprise Office; Cavan Tourism; Kelly Rahill & Co and AIB Cavan.

“These sponsors have supported the Cavan Business and Tourism Awards since its inception and we are most grateful for their continued support. They, like us, seek to back businesses and celebrate their achievements – big and small,” said Ms Jackson.

The awards will be held in the Slieve Russell Hotel, Ballyconnell, on December 1 at a theatre-style lunchtime event.

The deadline for nominations is November 1 and a pitch night will be hosted next month for all finalists.
