It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Matthew HANNON

Bray, Wicklow / Killinkere, Cavan

Matthew Hannon of Bray, Manchester and formerly of Killinkere, Virginia, Co. Cavan, passed away peacefully, in his 91st year, on Saturday 15th October, 2022, at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin. Predeceased by his brothers Benny, John, Alex, Danny and sister Rita. Beloved husband of Elvira, much loved father of Rosaleen and Paul, father-in-law of Mark and Aisling and adored “Grandad Mattie” of Rory and Naoise. He will be sadly missed by his family and extended family in Ireland, Manchester and Spain, by Maria Teresa, Aida and Fidel, and by his friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray on Wednesday afternoon (October 19) from 3.00pm to 5.00pm. Funeral and Committal Service on Thursday afternoon at 3.00pm at the funeral home, which may also be viewed on the following LINK. No flowers please. Paul Martin

Island, Virginia, Cavan / Dublin

The death has occurred unexpectedly of Paul Martin, Island, Virginia, Co. Cavan and formerly Dublin, at Beaumont Hospital. Predeceased by his father Paddy and his mother in law Ethel. Adored and much loved husband of Andrea and cherished Dad of Hannah and Aaron. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his wife and children, his mother Kay, his brothers Ken and Declan, his sister Rachel, sisters in law, brother in law, father in law George, Hannah and Aaron's partners Niall and Ines, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, colleagues at the OGP and his much loved dogs Molly and Riley.

A celebration of Paul's life will take place at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan on Wednesday at 2 o'clock ( H12RF78).

Desmond (Des) Campbell

Uggool, Moycullen, Galway / Louth / Carrickmacross, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Desmond (Des) Campbell. Uggool, Moycullen, Co. Galway & formerly Monvalet, Co. Louth & Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. 17th October 2022. Peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family, in the wonderful care of the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, following a short illness. Predeceased by his wife Fionnuala.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his heartbroken family, his partner Trish, his parents Artie & Mary, his brothers Aidan & Arthur and his sister Collette, his sisters-in-law Fiona & Trish and his brother-in-law Vip, his nephew Jack and his nieces Michaela, Aideen, Laura, Ava & Mia, his aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives & his many friends.

Des will repose at Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, A81 D328, on Wednesday, 19th October, from 4pm until 8pm. Des' funeral cortège will leave Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home on Thursday, 20th October, proceeding to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Louth Village, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Geraldine Fitzpatrick

Woodview, Killygoan, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

Peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by her family and in the outstanding, loving and professional care of the staff at the Mater Hospital, Eccles Street, Dublin 7.

Geraldine was a devoted mother to her two sons Ronan and Paul and loving sister to brothers Frank and Dermott. She is predeceased by her brother Maurice and sister Patricia.

Geraldine was a caring, loving relation to all her extended family, who endeared herself to all who knew her.

Reposing at the premises of McElvaney Funeral Directors, Church Square, Monaghan on Tuesday (18/10/2022) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Removal on Wednesday (19/10/2022) at 10.30 a.m., arriving at St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Cremation afterwards at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, at 4 p.m.

Frank Mc Cabe

98 Avenue, Clones, Monaghan / Aghabog, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Frank Mc Cabe, 98 Avenue, Clones and formerly of Tonagh, Aghabog, Co. Monaghan, Sunday, 16th October, peacefully, at the Lisdarn Unit, Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his beloved wife Bridget, parents Mary and Pat and his sister Rois (Hennelly, Galway). Beloved father of Jo-anne and Pat. Frank will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his daughter, son, daughter-in-law Chris, son-in-law Gerard, grandchildren Jake, Luke, David, Matthew, Lauren and James, and his sister Maureen (O'Donnell, Galway), nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, wonderful friends and by all who knew and loved Frank.

May His Gentle Soul Rest In Peace

Frank will repose at the family home from 4pm to 9pm today Monday and again tomorrow, Tuesday, from 3pm to 9pm,with removal on Wednesday morning at approx 10.40am to arrive at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Clones, for 11am Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in Mount St Oliver's Cemetery, Clones. Family time on Wednesday morning please.
