Witnesses sought for fatal crash

The victim of a fatal road crash in Newry has been named as Harrison Jameson from Cavan.

The 23-year-old from Billis died following a single-vehicle collision at Cloghoge on the Dublin Road on Tuesday.

The collision was reported to the PSNI around 11am on Wednesday but is understood to have taken place the night before.

Sergeant Neil Harrison from the PSNI said “we believe at this time that the silver Ford Focus that Mr Jameson was driving came off the road sometime between 9.30pm and 11pm on the previous evening”.

Tributes have been paid to the Billis man by his local Church of Ireland.

An investigation into the collision has been launched, with police appealing to anyone who was on the A1/Dublin Road in Newry around the time of the collision to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured it on their dash-cam is asked to contact officers in the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference 546 of 19/10/22.
