Design teams sought for local projects

The hope of housing a Community, Enterprise and Tourism Hub at the Heritage Railway complex in Belturbet moved a step closer as the council tendered for an architect led design team as part of a feasibility study.

The study will also form part of a master plan for the future development of the historic site.

“All necessary consultancy design services such as Planning, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying and all other consultancy services necessary for the performance of the services described” are being sought according to the tender notification published earlier this month.

Tender applicants have a deadline of November 4 to apply.

Earlier this year Cavan County Council secured €210,960 in seed funding for the Belturbet Town Regeneration Plan under the latest round of the Rural Regeneration Development Fund (RRDF).

The funding, to be matched by €52,740 in funding from the local authority itself, was one of 27 landmark regeneration projects in rural communities across the country to receive funding.

Similarly, an architect led design team has been tendered for to lead the redevelopment of Mooney Hall and the regeneration of the Fair Green in Blacklion village.

Blacklion received €45,000 under the Town and Village Rural Regeneration Scheme for a number of community development projects.

The community hopes to redevelop Mooney Hall as an indoor and outdoor community, social and remote working hub.
