It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Michael BIRDY

Kingscourt Road, Shercock, Cavan / Carrickmacross, Monaghan

Peacefully at his residence. Predeceased by his parents, James and Mary, brothers Jim and Alex and his beloved daughter, Sinead. Sadly missed and greatly loved by his wife, Deirdre, daughter, Eimear, sons Michael, Brian and Niall, daughters in law, Sandra and Niamh, grandchildren, Caoilinn, Zara and Jeanette, brothers, Paddy and Martin, sisters, Kitty, Mary, Ann and Margaret.

Rest in Peace.

Reposing at his residence on Friday from 2pm until 8pm. House private at all other times please. Removal on Saturday morning to arrive at St. Patrick's Church, Shercock, for funeral mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Bridie Sexton (née Tormey)

Grousehall, Moylett, Bailieborough, Cavan, A82 DK63

Bridie Sexton (nee Tormey) Grousehall, Moylett, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan died 3rd November 2022 peacefully at Oakview Nursing Home, Belturbet. Predeceased by her parents Jeff & Katie Tormey, her loving husband Gerard, sisters Ella and Catherine. Deeply regretted by her sons P.J. & Martin her daughters Rosemarie, Catherine, Pauline, Geraldine, daughters-in-law Elaine & Monica, sons-in-law Paddy, Tommy, Seamus & Seamie, brother Michael Tormey, sisters-in-law Lilly Sexton & Mary Tormey, brother in law Barney Marron, her 14 grandchildren,11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her residence on Friday from 4pm to 11pm and Saturday from 2pm to 11pm. House private Sunday morning please. As a mark of respect the Lavey Inn will remain closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will reopen at 10 am Monday morning.

Christins (Ina) Wisler (née Smith)

Oilean, Turloughmore, Galway / Belturbet, Cavan

Christina (Ina) Wisler (nee Smith). Oileán, Turloughmore, Co Galway and formerly of Boston, USA and Belturbet, Co. Cavan. November 2nd 2022. Passed away peacefully from this life, in the loving care of the staff of Brooklodge Nursing Home, Galway. Predeceased by her parents James and Annie Smith, sisters Bernadette, Kitty, Sheila, Trudy, Annie and Molly and husband Daniel Wisler. Deeply missed by her loving family, daughter Christina Whelan (Turloughmore), sister Josephine Pickett (Channel Islands), son in law Anthony, grandchildren Michael, Katie, Christina, Elizabeth and Sean, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Reposing at Our Lady’s Chapel, Lackagh (H65 N129) on Friday evening (November 4th) from 6.30 o'c. with Removal at 7.30 o'c. to the Church of Our Lady of Knock, Lackagh. Funeral Mass on Saturday (November 5th) in the Church of Our Lady of Knock, Lackagh (H65 N129) at 10.00 a.m. Remains arriving at St Mary’s Staghall Church, Belturbet (H14 E045) at approx. 2.30 pm for prayers and burial will follow in Staghall Cemetery.

Mass in Lackagh will be live-streamed on www.lackaghchurchliveyoutube and also broadcast on parish radio, 106.9 FM.

Geralyn Corcoran

Navan, Meath / Castleblayney, Monaghan / Athenry, Galway

Geralyn, very peacefully at The Hermitage Clinic, Co Dublin. Predeceased by her loving parents Austin and Noreen and her sister Mary. Dearly beloved sister of Peter and Kathrina. Much loved aunt of Finnian, Conall, Deirbhile, Ian, Mark and Yvonne.Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Eileen, brother-in-law Padraig and her many relatives and friends.

Reposing at her brother Peter`s home in Dundrum from 4 o clock to 7 o clock this Sunday evening. Removal on Monday morning to The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Ashbourne arriving for Funeral, Mass at 11 am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Patrick Joseph (Pat) Duffy

Manchester and formerly of Lattonfaskey, Tullynahinera, Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Patrick Joseph (Pat) Duffy, Manchester (formerly of Lattonfaskey, Tullynahinera, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan), on October 4th 2022, peacefully in hospital. Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (Madge), sister-in-law Eileen (Walsh), sister Bridget (Fitzpatrick) and parents Peter and Margaret. Pat, deeply regretted and remembered with love by his brothers Mick, Peadar and Cathal, sisters Mary (McElvaney), Roisin (McGuinness) and Eilish (Deery), the extended Walsh and Duffy families, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at St. Richard's Roman Catholic Church, Longsight, Manchester, on Thursday, 3rd November, from 6.30pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, 4th November, at 10am, with burial afterwards at Southern Cemetery.

A memorial Mass will be held for Pat and Madge at the Sacred Heart Church, Lough Egish, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, in the coming weeks.

Sonya Lochner (née McArdle)

Linsfort, Clones, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Sonya Lochner (nee McArdle), Linsfort, Newtownbutler Road, Clones, Co. Monaghan. Sonya passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of her family. Thursday, 3rd November. Sonya is predeceased by her parents, Sean and Sheila, and brother Jason.

Cherished and much loved wife of Alex, adored mother of Sophia and Maya, and treasured sister of Megan. Sonya will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her husband, daughters, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, work colleagues, many friends, and by all who knew and loved Sonya.

May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Sonya will repose at the family home, until removal on Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm, to arrive at the Sacred Heart Church, Clones for 3pm Funeral Mass, followed by private cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.
