Good sunny spells but cloudy in parts with patchy rain or drizzle

Weather update from Met Éireann

Overall unsettled with rain or showers most days and temperatures close to seasonal norm though slightly milder for next weekend. Strong winds at times too. That's the latest weather bulletin from the national weather forecaster.

It says patchy fog will be slow to clear in places this morning. The day will bring some good sunny spells but it will stay cloudy in parts with a little patchy rain or drizzle. Winds will be mostly light or moderate, though it will stay very blustery for a while near the south coast. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees. During the evening, wet and breezy weather will develop in the southwest.

The wet and breezy weather will track up over the country tonight with a clearance to scattered showers following to all but the northeast by morning. Some heavy or thundery downpours may occur with the rain. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in fresh blustery southerly winds, easing and veering southwest as the rain clears.

Becoming windy tomorrow with sunny spells and scattered showers, some with hail and thunder, especially closer to the Atlantic coast. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds developing.

Showers will persist across Atlantic counties tomorrow night - some heavy with the risk of hail or thunder, with long clearer spells elsewhere. Outbreaks of rain will develop in western areas before dawn. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees, in blustery southerly winds.

Thursday is expected rather wet and windy with spells of rain tracking eastwards through the day, and brighter conditions with scattered showers following from the west. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in fresh to strong south to southwest winds, easing as the rain clears.

Blustery with clear spells and scattered showers through the night Thursday, the showers mainly in the west. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.

Friday will be showery in the northwest but with a lot of dry bright weather elsewhere and some sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

Turning wet and breezy again for Friday night and Saturday for a time. Some sunny spells later on Saturday but remaining very blustery and showery for the rest of the weekend.
