Mace set to open in 2023

The streetscape in Kilnaleck is set to change slightly in the New Year with the appearance of Kiernan's Mace but locals can expect the same friendly service.

Aodhain Kiernan and his wife Sinead took over O'Reilly's Shop after Halloween - Aodhain being the grand nephew of Celia O'Reilly who had run the popular shop for the past 62 years!

While still finding his feet behind the counter, Aodhain is delighted with the "warm reception" from locals since taking over.

He has signed a deal with DWG for a franchise to trade as Mace and says that shoppers can expect plenty of new products and offers under the brand.

In preparation, Aodhain is completing an extension of the shop - doubling the retail space. He plans to add a deli counter next year and is also considering applying for a full off-licence.

Currently the shop is a grocery store, newsagents and has a wine licence.

Aodhain is already finding that local people are "loyal to the community" and he looks forward to providing them with a good service into the future.

In addition to Aodhain, the shop employs two full-time and two part-time staff.

A range of offers will be available in the run-up to Christmas and the team wishes all their customers a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.
