It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Peadar Cox

Cornea, Arva, Cavan

The death has occurred of Peadar Cox, Cornea, Arva, suddenly at his home on 9th. December 2022 Loving husband of Bridie, (Briget nee Cullen. Predeceased by his father Michael, mother Maureen, brothers Michael, nephew Patrick. Sadly missed by his brother Tony, sister-in-law, Rose, Nellie, Mary Kate, nephews Anthony, Michael, Jerry, grand nephew Aaron, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

May he rest in peace.

Reposing at his home this Friday evening from 6pm. to 8pm. and on Saturday from 4pm.to 8pm. Removal from his home on Sunday morning to The Church of Immaculate Conception, Coronea for Funeral Mass at 1pm. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Teresa Crowley (née McCauley)

Coachford, Cork / Belturbet, Cavan

Crowley (née McCauley) (Aglish, Coachford and late of Belturbet, Co. Cavan) On December 3rd 2022, peacefully at Wexford General Hospital Teresa beloved wife of the late John and loving mother of the late Geraldine. Sadly missed by her loving granddaughter Tracey, grandson Ross, great-grandchildren Tess and Ollie, Tracey’s husband Andrew, Ross’ fiancée Jenna, son-in-law John, brother Brendan (Sligo), sister Breda (Surrey), brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Rest in peace.

Lying in repose at Crowley’s Funeral Home Ballincollig Monday (12th) from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Requiem Mass at 12 noon Tuesday (13th) in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Farran which can be viewed on https://www.churchservices.tv/farran. Funeral afterwards to Aglish Cemetery.

Mary Kavanagh (née Dolan)

Mooney's Grove, Faithlegg, Waterford / Belturbet, Cavan

Died 8th December 2022

Predeceased by her sister Elizabeth.

Mary will be sadly missed by her loving husband Tommy, daughter Lisa, sons David, Brian and James, Her mother Eilish, sisters Breda Margaret, Irene, and Catherine, brothers Sean, Seamus, Niall, Cathal, Tom, Pat and Nicholas, grandchildren Fiadh, Sarah, and Katie, daughter–in-law Peggy, son-in-law David (Coffey), fondly remembered by Marta Nadales and Labhaoise Dunbar, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family neighbours and friends.

May Mary Rest in Peace.

Requiem Mass in St. Nicholas' Church, Faithlegg Monday December 12th at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Breege Kelly (née Brady)

Drumgur, Stradone, Cavan

Peacefully at her home. Predeceased by her father Tom, brothers Bernard & John and nephew Tony. Deeply regretted by her husband and best friend Andy. Sadly missed by her heartbroken children Grace (Tommy), Declan (Lisa) and Emma (Conor), her adored grandchildren Freya, Siella, Ayla, Ria, Ben and Zak, Rogue and Logan, her loving mother Nancy (Crosserlough), sisters Nuala (Brian), Mary (John), Peggy (Phelim), Ann (Sean), Kitty (Mick) and brother Tony (Mags), sister-in-law Maggie, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at her home today Friday (for family, neighbours and close friends) from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm, house strictly private thereafter. Reposing at Lakeland's Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan, tomorrow Saturday from 5pm until 8pm. Removal from her home on Sunday to arrive at St. Brigid's Church, Laragh for Funeral Mass at 1pm, followed by cremation in Lakeland's Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan. No flowers please. Philomena Buckley (née Carville)

Tullynahinera, Lough Egish, Castleblayney, Monaghan

Philomena Buckley formerly of Lisdoney, Oram and Potters Bar, London, on Thursday 9th of December 2022, peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Drumbear Nursing Home and her family. Predeceased by her parents Hugh and Kathleen, sisters Anne, Bridget, Mary, Elizabeth and Kathleen, brothers Hugh, John, Seamus and Arthur. Deeply regretted and remembered with love by her husband Edward, son David, grandson Alex, brothers Neily and Eamon, and Sister-in-Law Maria, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Reposing at Corrigan's Funeral Home, The Commons, Castleblayney, on Saturday, 10th of December, from 4pm to 8pm, and Sunday, 11th December, 12 noon to 4pm amongst family and friends. Removal on Monday at 11am, via Main Street and Lisdoney, to arrive at St. Patrick's Church, Oram, for funeral Mass at 11.30am and burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to Alzheimer Society of Ireland c/o Corrigan's Funeral Directors.

Ellen Clerkin (née O'Connor)

Feebeaghduff, Scotstown, Monaghan / Athea, Limerick

The death has occurred of Ellen Clerkin nee O'Connor, Feebeaghduff, Scotstown, Co.Monaghan and formerly Athea, Co.Limerick. Friday 9th December peacefully at Cavan General Hospital.

Pre-deceased by her husband Pat and daughter Kathleen. Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her sons Kevin & David, daughter in law Dympna and grandchildren Shane, Conor & Eva. Sadly missed by her brothers Jack, Paddy, Mick & Maurice, sisters in law Betty, Ann & Anita, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Ellen's remains will repose at McMahon's Funeral Home, Emyvale, H18 FK80 on Sunday from 4pm until Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Monday morning at 11am at St.Mary's Church, Urbleshanney, Scotstown. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to Cavan/Monaghan Palliative Care c/o Peter McMahon, McMahon's Funeral Home, Emyvale or any family member.

Eileen Gissane (née McRory)

Killaloe, Clare / Monaghan Town, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Eileen Gissane (nee McRory), 604 Cross Road, Killaloe, Co.Clare and late of Glenview Drive, Killygoan/ Carrickanoran, Monaghan, Co.Monaghan. Friday. December 9th, peacefully at St Anne’s Nursing Home, Ballybay. Predeceased by her husband Michael. Eileen deeply regretted and remembered with love by family, her daughters Celine (Richard) and Siobhan (Dieren) England, sons Michael (Olivia) Monaghan, Kevin (Diane) Australia, sisters Alice Creamer, Mary Clerkin, Sally Barry and Celine Lowe, her cherished grandchildren Aoibhinn, Thomas, Michael, Emily, Ciara, Flynn, Harry, Aengus and Archie, brothers in-law, sister in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Eileen will repose at her son Michael’s residence, 19 Devin Reilly Terrace, Monaghan on Sunday, December 11th, from 2pm until 8pm. Eileen’s funeral cortège will proceed on foot from the residence on Monday evening at 6:30pm to arrive at St Macartan’s Cathedral Monaghan for funeral prayers at 7pm. Funeral mass on Tuesday morning at 10am followed by burial in Reilig Lua Cemetery, Killaloe, Co. Clare arriving approximately 3pm.
