Public Consultation on development of Crover lakeshore

Event takes place at Crover House Hotel from on Monday, December 19.

A public consultation will take place next week in relation to the proposed future development of Crover Lakeshore, known locally as Kit’s Pier, on the banks of Lough Sheelin.

The event will take place at Crover House Hotel from 6–7.30pm on Monday, December 19.

Cavan County Council secured funding in 2021, through the Outdoor Rural Infrastructure Fund, to deliver a plan for the future development of Crover Lakeshore on the banks of beautiful Lough Sheelin.

The eight-acre scenic site, known locally as ‘Kit’s Pier’, they say “is rich in biodiversity and has high ecological value”. Popular with locals the area is currently used by families, swimmers, anglers, and walkers and provides “spectacular views of Lough Sheelin, one of the most picturesque lakes in the county”.

This project, in partnership with Mountnugent Village Regeneration Association, aims to develop a “strategic vision” for the Lakeshore, which will provide a plan for the “sustainable and appropriate development” of the site over the next three to five years.

“Kit’s Pier on Lough Sheelin has long been a popular location for local people to visit at all times of year. We believe this site could be developed into something really special. We are working with Cavan County Council on planning for future and look forward to seeing what can be done with the site, for the benefit of everybody,” stated Noel Connell, Chair of Mountnugent Village Regeneration Association.

Cavan County Council has appointed Park Hood Chartered Landscape Architects to deliver the plan.

Park Hood will be available on Monday, December 19 at Crover House Hotel from 6pm to 7.30pm to introduce their draft vision, answer questions from the public and obtain feedback.
