Drung and Templeport posses s the firepower to secure final places

There are two Hotel Kilmore Cavan Junior Football Championship matches down for decision this weekend, with pernennial Junior contenders Shercock taking on Drung on Friday evening and Templeport facing Mountnugent the following day. Drung are many observers" favourites to go all the way this season having been surprisingly relegated from the Intermediate ranks last year and the Bunnoe-based side have the benefit of competing in Division Two of the league while operating out of the Junior Championship. However, they won"t have things all their own way against their local rivals who have been working hard at underage level in recent years and have a mobile and pacy young squad featuring the likes of Micheal and Liam Og O"Reilly, along with experienced players of the calibre of Paddy McPhilips up front. Drung, however, look to be the class act of this division. With the likes of county players Barry Watters, James Reilly and Ciaran Galligan, they should have too much experience for their opponents. They showed in their comfortable quarter-final win over a bouyed-up Munterconnacht that they mean business this year, and they will take all the beating. West Cavan club Templeport are one of the most progressive in the county and their first team has shown considerable improvement this season. Currently sitting joint third in the Division Three league table, the St Aidan"s had a narrow 1-8 to 0-10 win over local rivals Kildallan last time out. Star of the show was full-forward Ciaran McManus, who landed 1-4 over the hour, 1-3 of which came from play. Mountnugent, for their part, put poor league form behind them and had a four point win over 2007 finalists Shannon Gaels last time out, having dispatched Cornfean in the previous round. With the powerful David Givney pulling the strings, they will fancy their chances of progressing.
