Mainly dry day but cold night ahead

Early this morning will be mostly cloudy and mainly dry with patches of mist. Light rain and drizzle over Connacht and Ulster will gradually move southeastwards today and will clear to the south towards evening with sunny spells following. Light to moderate southwesterly winds will become northwesterly as rain clears. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

Tonight will be cold and dry with clear spells and some mist patches. Frost and some icy patches will develop also. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with light variable or northerly breezes.

Thursday will be cool and dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with light to moderate northerly breezes.

Thursday night will be cold with clear spells, but with patches of mist and fog developing. Frost and icy patches will develop with lowest temperatures of 2 to -2 degrees and light, variable breezes.

On Friday morning, frost, fog and ice will gradually clear and sunny spells will develop. Cloudier conditions will gradually extend eastwards through the afternoon and outbreaks of light rain and drizzle will develop in the northwest in the evening. Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with light southwesterly or variable breezes.

On Friday night, light rain and drizzle will spread southeastwards across the country. Amounts will be small. Rain and drizzle will clear overnight with clear spells following. It will be cold with lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees and light northwest winds.

Saturday will be mainly dry with some bright or sunny spells and perhaps one or two light showers. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with light westerly or variable breezes. Saturday night will be cold with patches of mist or fog and with frost in places. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees.

Sunday will start off dry. However, rain and drizzle will move in from the northwest later in the day and spread across the country. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly winds.

The early days of next week look like having a fair amount of dry weather, but some rain or drizzle at times too.
