Fianna Fail most searched by Cavan web users

Cavan bucked the trend where Fianna Fail came last in terms of the most searched for political party in the country.

Web users in Cavan Town searched for Fianna Fail more than anywhere else in the country, according to a new survey of Google generated browsing habits.

Search engine specialists, Digital Funnel examined Google search data from the past two years in order to determine which Irish political party generated the most amount of online searches and other key insights.

Users in Cavan Town are mostly searching for Fianna Fail, followed by Wicklow, Tramore, Co. Waterford, Ashbourne, Co. Meath and Naas, Co. Kildare.

According the data, Cavan bucked the trend where Fianna Fail came last in terms of the most searched for political party in the country out of the big political three.

Sinn Fein are the most searched for political party in the country, followed by Fine Gael.

Users in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway have searched for Sinn Fein more than anywhere else in the country. This was followed by Croagh, Co. Limerick, Cavan Town, Wexford Town and Edenderry, Co. Offaly.

Users in Tribley, Co. Meath meanwhile searched for Fine Gael more than anywhere else in the country. Tribley was followed by Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, Bray, Co. Wicklow, Greystones, Co. Wicklow and Rush, Co. Wicklow.

According to the latest RED C Polling figures, Sinn Fein are leading the way when it comes to people’s choice for the next general election, securing 33% of first preference votes, with Fine Gael trailing on 21% and Fianna Fail garnering around 15%.

There have been a few notable spikes in specific terms over the past few months.

Searches for the term Sinn Fein Russia have exploded, increasing 3233.33% between December 11, 2022 to February 11, 2023.

Searches for Bertie Ahern have also jumped 1900% over the days since it was announced the former Taoiseach is re-joining Fianna Fail.

Searches for the Mahon Tribunal have also spiked over the same period, increasing 2375%.
