John Carolan

Ballaghanea, Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred peacefully at St. Joseph's Private Nursing Home of John Carolan, Ballaghanea, Virginia, Co. Cavan and formerly Ardlow, Virginia and London, surrounded by his loving family, on 24 February 2023. Predeceased by his wife Bridie. Deeply regretted by his son Thomas, his daughter Rosemarie, his grandchildren Richard, Clare and Daniel, his son in law Ian, his sister Mary, his brothers Sylvester, Kieran and Vincent, his sister in law Mary, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Reposing at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Sunday evening from 5 o'clock until prayers at 8 o'clock. Removal on Monday arriving to Mary Immaculate Church, Virginia for 11 o'clock Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in St. Killian's Cemetery, Mullagh. May John's gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Maureen Connolly (née O'Donovan)

''Pine View'', Drumelis, Cavan

Maureen Connolly (nee O'Donovan), " Pine View", Drumelis , Cavan, Thursday, February 23rd 2023, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her beloved son Tommy Jnr, sisters Rita and Vera and her brother Christy. Maureen will be very sadly missed by her beloved husband Thomas, her son Brendan (Valerie), daughters Irene (Davy), Corina (J.J) and Suzanne (Jeff), her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Harry (London), sister Eileen (Cork), nephews, nieces, all her extended family, good neighbours and many friends. May she rest In Peace

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12 C821) on Sunday evening from 5pm until 7pm. This will be a walk through only with no handshaking please. Maureen's Funeral Mass will take place on Monday in the Cathedral of Saints Patrick and Phelim, Cavan at 1 o clock. A cremation service will take place in Lakeland's crematorium, Cavan at 5pm. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu to the Palliative Care Unit at Cavan General Hospital or the Irish Heart Foundation. Rose Curley (née Flanagan)

Sutton, Dublin / Mullagh, Cavan

CURLEY (née Flanagan), Rose (Sutton, formerly of Killeeter, Mullagh, Co. Cavan & Coventry) – 23rd, February 2023, peacefully in the loving care of the staff at the Bon Secours Hospital, Glasnevin; beloved wife of the late Malachy. Rose will be sadly missed by her loving daughter Marie, son-in-law Philip, grandchildren Rose and Rudie (Eve), her brothers Willie, Peter, Michael and John, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, neighbours and her very large circle of dear friends across the country and beyond.

Reposing at the Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview Strand on Sunday, 27th February, from 3pm to 5pm, with family in attendance and at her home on Monday from 3pm to 8pm. Removal on Tuesday morning to the Church of the Resurrection, Bayside, arriving at 9.50am for 10am Requiem Mass. Funeral thereafter to Fingal Cemetery. Patricia (Pat) Martin

Church St., Cavan Town, Cavan / Navan Road, Dublin

Patricia (Pat) Martin, Church St., Cavan Town and Ashington, Navan Road, Dublin, February 24th 2023, peacefully, at her home in Church St. in the devoted care of her loving sisters. Beloved daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine Martin and much-loved sister of Frances and Kathleen. Patricia will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by her sisters, brother in law John, nephew Martin and his partner Neringa, nephew Paul and his partner Abi, her niece Claire and her husband Richard, her grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins wonderful neighbours and many exceptional friends. May she rest in peace.

Patricia will repose at her home in Church St., this afternoon (Friday) from 2pm until 6pm. Removal will take place tomorrow (Saturday), leaving Church St at 3.10pm and travelling to the Cathedral of Ss Patrick & Felim, Cavan, arriving for Funeral Mass at 3.30pm. Following Mass, the cortege will travel to St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Killygarry, for committal prayers and burial in the family plot. Brendan SMYTH

Dun Laoghaire, Dublin / Belturbet, Cavan

SMYTH (Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, formerly of Belturbet, Co. Cavan) February 24th 2023 (peacefully) in the kind care of all the staff of both the Blackrock Hospice and Blackrock Clinic, Brendan, beloved husband of the late Mary, loving father of Caroline, Damian, Ciara, Brendan and Edel. Sadly missed by his children, sons-in-law Daniel and Paul, daughters-in-law Rita and Ciara, adored grandchildren Saoirse, Carla, Daniel, Oscar, Eli, Lewis, Ellie, Jack and Lochlainn, his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing Tuesday (February 28th) In Quinn’s of Glasthule from 4.00pm to 6.00pm. Removal Wednesday (March 1st) to St Michael’s Church, Dun Laoghaire arriving for 11.00am Funeral Mass followed by burial in Redford Cemetery, Greystones. No flowers please. Carmel Sorohan (née Bunyan)

Derrylea, Ballyjamesduff, Cavan / Listowel, Kerry

The death has occurred of Carmel Sorohan (nee Bunyan) Derrylea, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan and formerly of Coolkeragh, Listowel, Co Kerry. Carmel passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and the dedicated nursing staff of St Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown following a short illness very bravely borne. Beloved wife of the recently deceased Michael, devoted mother to Jean, Anne-Marie, Noelle and Brian, loving grandmother to Azura, Max, Grace, Dylan, Hugh, Malachy and Amelia. Deeply missed by her heartbroken children and grandchildren, her brothers JJ, Johnny and Robert and her sisters Sheila, Kathleen and Ann. Sadly missed by her sons in law Micheal and Peter and daughter in law Jackie, her sisters in law, brothers in law and her many nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends and neighbours. The death has occurred of Jenna Rose Brogan, Clonboy Lane, Clonboy, Clones Co.Monaghan. Unexpectedly, Wednesday 22nd February. Predeceased by her grandparents Jean and Brendan Brogan and Patrick Mc Kenna. Cherished daughter of Mary and Patrick and adored sister Aoife (Darren), Deirdre (Jason), Patrick (Jemma), Marc, Niamh (George). Jenna will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her parents, sisters, brothers, partner Gareth and his son Mark, grandmother Mary Mc Kenna, nieces Saoirse, Ella, Eimear, Emma and Gráinne and her nephews Jamie and Aidan, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, many friends and by all who knew and loved Jenna. Jenna Rose will be resting at the family home, Clonboy Lane, Clonboy, Clones,H23NV60 on Sunday 26th, from 2pm to 6pm with removal on Monday morning 27th, at approx 10.30 for 11am Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Chapel, Clones followed by burial in Mount St Oliver Cemetery. Peacefully at the Mater Hospital Dublin. Predeceased by his mother Mary, father Francie and brother Pat. Deeply regretted and much loved husband of Veronica, daughter Melissa and son Pat, sisters Bridie, Jean and Ann, brothers Thomas, Anthony and Gerard, grandchildren Aimee, Alex, Frankie and Conor, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family and large circle of friends. Reposing at his residence tomorrow (Saturday 25th) from 12 to 8pm and Sunday 26th from 12 to 8pm. Remains leaving his residence Monday 27th at 9.20am on foot via Main St,Thomas St, Church St to St Mary's Church Castleblayney for funeral mass at 10am followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan at 12 noon.
