It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

MAURICE SABOUR PICKETT

Kill Saint Lawrence, Waterford City, Waterford / Ballyhaise, Cavan / East Wall, Dublin

Maurice passed away peacefully in Waterford University Hospital in the presence of his loving family.

Predeceased by his brother Gerard who recently passed.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Ala, his children Sarah, Ali and Florence and their spouses, Kent and Puneet, his grandchildren Layli, Nura, Zayn and Rian, by his sister Margaret, brothers Oliver, John and Grahame, sisters-in-law Charlotte, Stasia and Geraldine, and brother-in-law, Derek.

A member of the Bahá'í Faith for over 45 years, he devoted his life to the promotion of the oneness of mankind.

A Bahá'í funeral service will be held at Newtown School, Waterford at 11am on Sunday (March 12th) followed by burial at Kilbarry Cemetery, Waterford.

The family would like to extend particular thanks to the staff at University Hospital Waterford for their care and compassion before and after his passing, particularly the nurses and doctors in the ICU.

Colm Eoghan Patrick Homan

Dublin / Cavan

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearest COLM EOGHAN PATRICK HOMAN (“EOGHAN”) in Boston on Thursday, February 23, 2023 with his loving parents Colm and Niamh and older sister Aisling by his side. He was just 16 years old.

In addition to his parents and sister, Eoghan leaves grandparents Eugene and Marlene Lynch, Rory and Joan Homan, aunts and uncles Fiona & David Gaskin, Enda & Jayne Homan, Gillian Homan and Barry & Dominika Lynch, twelve cousins, extended family, his wide circle of friends and the Somersfield Academy community to cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his uncle David Homan and cousin Liam Lynch.

A private celebration of Eoghan’s life will be held in Dublin, Ireland in early April and in Bermuda in mid April. His parents ask that in lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, in Eoghan’s memory are made to the PALS in Bermuda or to Boston Children’s Hospital through his father’s Miles for Miracles campaign http://fundraise.childrenshospital.org/goto/Colm_Homan.

Eoghan’s family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care Eoghan received from his medical team at Boston Children’s Hospital / Dana Farber Cancer Institute throughout his 14 month battle with cancer, bravely borne.

Joseph (Joey) BYRNE

20 Malachy Conlon Pk, Culloville, Armagh / Inniskeen, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Joseph (Joey) BYRNE aged 89 (Culloville & formerly Drumacavoy, Inniskeen) on the 9th March 2023, peacefully at home, in the tender care of his family. Predeceased by his beloved wife Bernadette & son Barry RIP. Cherished father of Majella (Hatzer) & Conor. Dear father in law of Martin. Devoted grandfather of Joe & Liam. Son of the late Joe & Minnie RIP. Loving brother of the late Patsy, Mary (King) & Annie (Woods).

Reposing at Mc Conville's Funeral Home, between 4-5pm on Friday evening. Removal at 5.15pm to his late residence at 20 Malachy Conlon Pk, Culloville (via Sheelagh, Inniskeen Grattans GAA, Drumacavoy).

WAKE visiting times : Saturday & Sunday 12-9pm.

Funeral on Monday, 13th March, leaving his home at 10:15am (house strictly private on Monday morning) to St Patrick's Church, Crossmaglen, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am. Livestream of Mass available via the parish webcam : www.uppercreggan.co.uk. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Eugene Lavelle

Killycrum, Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Eugene Lavelle, Killycrum, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, Thursday, March 9th, peacefully at The Mater Hospital Dublin, following a short illness surrounded by his family. Eugene, predeceased by his parents Owen and Emma and his sister Susan. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving family, his brother Peter, sisters Mary (Lavelle), Rita (McArdle), Theresa (Sewell) and Patricia (Quinn), sister in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Peacefully, on Thursday, 9th March 2023, in Donegal Hospice, Letterkenny. Laraine will be dearly missed by her husband Robert, daughter Saphran, son Oliver, her parents Fred & Jean, sister Irene (Michael), brother Edgar (Carol), nieces Amy, Jessica and Sorrel, nephews Kyle, Jamie, Jeffrey and Bobby, mother-in-law Ella, sister-in-law Elaine (Jimmy), the entire family circle and many friends.

Funeral service on Sunday, 12th March, in Corvally Presbyterian Church, Co. Monaghan, eircode A81 FY50, at 2pm. Interment afterwards in Carrickmaclim burial grounds.
