Sunny spells and showers for St. Patrick's Day

It will be difficult to dampen the festive mood even with showers forecast to be “heavy and prolonged” at times during St. Patrick's Day, along with a “chance of thunderstorms” in some parts of the region.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in mostly moderate south to southeast winds, as clear spells overnight make way for a largely cloudy day.

“Outbreaks of rain will move in over parts of the west and northwest.”

By night time lowest temperatures will drop to between 5 to 8 degrees.

“Mist and fog patches will form in light breezes. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds will develop on Atlantic coasts later as the rain arrives.”
