Cavan Comedy Club returns

An avid alliteration aficionado or famously fickle for fun? Get your pre-April Fool’s fix when Cavan Comedy Club hosts two of Ireland’s finest female comedians - Julie Jay and Fiona Frawley.

Comedian, writer and podcaster Julie’s stand-up has been described as “the funniest thing I’ve seen for a long, long time” by Tommy Tiernan who she supported on his 2018 ‘Paddy Crazy Horse Tour’.

Julie writes a weekly parenting column with The Irish Examiner, and co-hosts a hugely popular comedy podcast ‘Trapped With Fred and Julie’ alongside husband and Kells native Fred Cooke who performed at the Cavan Comedy Club back in December.

She has also performed at Edinburgh Fringe, Electric Picnic, Altogether Now, Vodafone Comedy Festival and on BBC Radio, and her current show ‘Oops’- a dark comedy love letter to Britney Spears - won the First Fortnight Award at the Dublin Fringe 2022.

Her support this coming Friday, March 31 (doors 7pm/ show starts 8pm) is Fiona Frawley, a fast rising talent on the Irish comedy scene whose quick wit and dry humour, not to mention appropriate amount of cringe, has delighted audiences from Electric Picnic to the Iveagh Gardens Comedy Festival.

She famously beat ‘King Gong’ at London Comedy Store, widely considered the most brutal open mic night on the circuit, and is resident MC at Whelan’s Cherry Comedy.

The Cavan Comedy Club takes place upstairs at the Imperial Bar, Cavan Town, this coming Friday, January 31, with tickets available via Cavan Comedy Club Instagram or Facebook page.
