Mufassa and Sarabi with baby Simba.

St Clare’s in the heart of the African Savannah

St Clare’s NS in Cavan Town found itself over run with exotic life on Wednesday evening last, as the fourth, fifth and sixth class girls put on a spectacular production of 'The Lion King'.

The school was transformed into the African savannah for the evening as the snarly Scar (Ivana James) went toe to toe with the regal Mufasa (Anna) for two sell-out performances.

The set, props, costumes and makeup were of a standard not previously seen as director Kerrie Miley was ably assisted by a large number of talented staff, eager to give the acting and singing talents of the cast the setting they deserved.

Simba (Lilu) and Nala (Annie) brought the house down with some of the shows biggest numbers as the comic timings of Timon (Molly), Pumbaa (Sarah) ,Zazu (Analia) and Rafiki (Ieva) had the audiences rolling in laughter.

There was barely a dry eye in the house for the emotional finale as proud family members rose to their feet to give the children a rapturous standing ovation.

A huge thank you to all involved in every aspect of the production and as always to the support afforded us by parents and the local community.

Keep an eye out for future performances!
