Clones road victim to be laid to rest

Gardaí continue appeal for information.

The female pedestrian who died in Clones following an accident over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend will be laid to rest later today.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Mc Goldrick (née Mc Dermott) of Clonavilla, Clones, Monaghan, and formerly Glasgow, Scotland, died Saturday, April 8.

She is predeceased by her parents Mary and Owen, sisters Tilly, Kathleen, Bridie, Mary and Sheila, and brother Sean.

Betty will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her husband Hugh, daughters Siobhan and Martina (Paul), grandchildren Lauren (Alan) and Roisin (Abiola), and her much loved great-grandchildren Luna-Rose and Primrose, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours, many friends, and by all who knew and loved Betty.

Her removal takes place on Saturday morning at approx 10.30am from her home to arrive at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Clones, for 11am Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in Mount St Oliver's Cemetery, Clones.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the accident which occurred at approximately 10:45pm on the Newbliss Road (R183) at Clonavilla, Clones.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Newbliss Road (R183) in the Clonavilla area between 10pm and 11pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí."
