Work underway at the Ramor Theatre.

Ramor Theatre ‘very near completion’

Work on the reopening of Virginia’s Ramor Theatre is “very near completion”, with the final stages of preparation currently taking place.

Despite this, an “exact opening date” has not yet been confirmed, but a Cavan County Council spokesperson assures: “We hope to announce it soon”.

Following major refurbishment, the theatre was due to reopen on Friday, April 14.

However, the Celt understands that a hold up with the finalisation of fire certificates has delayed matters.

The Ramor was redeveloped in tandem with plans to deliver a new Civic, Cultural, and Library Services Centre incorporating the former Parochial House next door.

Demac Construction Ltd oversaw construction, which sees both buildings share an extensive foyer to include a new theatre box office area.

The facility was developed thanks to funding of almost €4 million secured through the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Rural Regeneration Development Fund.

It was supplemented by an additional €1.3 million in funding from Cavan County Council.

While the Ramor Theatre is near reopening, with lighting and all other accompaniments installed, elements of the new Civic, Cultural, and Library Services Centre are still being worked on.
