Delays at Cavan Emergency Department as 22 reported on trolleys

Cavan General Hospital is currently experiencing significantly high levels of activity with prolonged waiting times.

Management at the hospital advised the public on May 2 that there are high numbers of patients presenting to the emergency department and asked that the public only attend if necessary.

In a statement, they said "our emergency department is experiencing high volumes of patients and we would appreciate your support in using alternative pathways e.g. GP, pharmacy etc. We are still providing full emergency care if it is required."

The warning comes as the INMO reported that there were 22 patients on trolleys in Cavan General Hospital on Tuesday, May 2. On the same date, there were a total of 704 patients on trolleys nationwide.
