Public consult on B’boro master-plan

Cavan County Council will host its first public consultation on the development of a Town Centre First Masterplan for Bailieborough, on Tuesday, May 30, at 7.30pm in the Bailie Hotel.

This initial consultation will form part of wider engagement with the local community on views for the future development of the town.

Bailieborough was one of 26 towns across the country to receive funding under the National Town Centre First to develop a Masterplan. The policy aims to map out future development; focus on tackling dereliction and vacant properties; as well as make the county’s towns more attractive places to live, work, socialise and run a business in.

A team of consultants, led by Cooney Architects, have been commissioned by the council, to conduct the review.

Bailieborough was chosen as the first town in Cavan under the Town Centre First initiative, and early-stage work has commenced to see how best regeneration can be encouraged through a range of economic, social and cultural projects and initiatives.

Caroline Brady has been appointed as Town Regeneration Officer in Cavan County Council for the project. Her role will be to work in partnership with the local community and businesses, public and private stakeholders.

“I am here to support the local community in Bailieborough to take action to further develop and regenerate their town,” she said. “I would encourage people to engage and participate in the consultation process to have their views heard.”

Ms Brady added: “By working together, we can ensure that Bailieborough thrives and can make the most of funding opportunities going forward.”
