Spate of thefts investigated

A GAA club, building site, a marina, and a shed are among the properties targeted by thieves in the latest spate of reported burglaries across the two counties.

Gardaí in Clones are investigating two thefts from Aghabog GAA, with gardaí noting there has been an “increase in thefts” in the areas of Aghabog, Drum and Scotshouse, while asking people to “remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity” immediately.

It follows the theft of a red Yanmar generator taken from a building site at Killyneil, Tyholland sometime between Friday, May 26 and Monday, May 29; as well as the theft of three outboard engines from boats moored at Foalies Bridge near Belturbet between Thursday and Friday, May 25-26.

The motors stolen include a 15hp Mercury, a 10hp Honda and a 6hp Tohatsu, and boat owners across the county are been advised not to leave unsecured engines particularly in remote areas. Sundries such as lifejackets or jerry cans are also being targeted, gardaí warn.

Tools, meanwhile, were reported taken from a shed at Killyfargy, Scotshouse, between May 21-22, and include a PTO powerwasher, Draper powerwasher, Stihl consaw, Powerwasher foam gun, DeWalt chopsaw, cable scanner, tractor top link, forestry helmet, and a Stihl chainsaw.
