Scott Cider to submit plans for brewery

Cavan’s Scott Cider is hoping to develop a brewery operation near Ballinagh.

The local award-winning artisan brewing company is seeking permission for the development of a site at Cashel, to change the use of a dry store shed on an existing farm to a fully kitted out brewery.

The plans by Big Hand brewing Company Ltd include an accompanying internal fit out of the premises, the installation of a new sewage treatment system, together with all associated ancillary site works.

Plans were submitted to the council by Kevin O’Neill of Cornahilt Design Studio Ltd on behalf of Big Hand brewing Company Ltd, which currently operates from a unit at the Cavan Enterprise Centre, Dublin Road, on the outskirts of Cavan Town.

The company was founded in 2014 by Jonathan Scott, who is the master cider maker, and the family business is the recipient of multiple awards, including a Gold at the World Cider Awards in 2018, and Blas Na hÉireann.
