Cavan student wins a top legal award

A Cavan native has received a top award in a specialist legal course at Maynooth University.

Alanna Kells won the Legal Writing Award for her written work on the Funds Law course. The course is delivered by top international law firm Matheson in partnership with Maynooth University.

The course is coordinated and delivered by Brónagh Maher, who is a visiting lecturer in law at Maynooth University and Head of Matheson’s Asset Management Knowledge Team. Alanna's classmate, Jordan Donoghue from Longford, has also been awarded a six month internship in Matheson's Asset Management and Investment Funds Department based on her results and a competitive interview process.

A special event was held to honour Alanna and Jordan's achievements.

Alanna said: "I am delighted to have had the opportunity to study the Funds Law module as part of my LLM degree in Maynooth University. This module has been immensely valuable in providing me with a comprehensive understanding of funds law, particularly in the context of Ireland's financial landscape. The knowledge and insights gained have greatly enhanced my academic journey and equipped me with practical skills that I believe will be invaluable in my future career."

Congratulating Alanna and Jordan on their achievements to date, Brónagh said: “It has been a pleasure to teach Jordan and Alanna and to now work alongside Jordan."
