Traffic calming proposed for Ballyconnell

Traffic calming measures have been proposed for the town of Ballyconnell.

The measures consist of a junction tightening and footpath improvement works at the L50531 Mucklagh Road and on the R205 Main Street, Doon, Ballyconnell Town.

The junction is almost adjacent to the town’s community centre, and concerns have been raised in the past regarding motorists using the point as a turning area.

The proposed plan is to redo the existing white lines; to provide a new two-metre wide, flat-top pedestrian crossing; a new footpath and kerbing; and additional road signage.

The proposals were first published last month, and drawings and particulars can be inspected at Cavan County Council, Second Floor, Johnston Centre, Farnham Street, Cavan Town; the Cavan/Belturbet Municipal District, Church Street, Ballyconnell or downloaded online until Tuesday, August 28. Submissions by the same date also.
