The ancient Moybologue Cemetery will be the subject of discussion at one of the Heritage Week events on this evening.

Moybologue and Ballyjamesduff focus of tonight's Heritage events

Heritage Week is well and truly under way in County Cavan with two more events on this evening.

The committee of Moybologue Historical Society are hosting Kevin Barton, Archaeological Geophysicist (www.lgs.ie) for an update on the fieldwork, conservation work and promotional activities undertaken at Moybologue church and graveyard to date, as well as a discussion on what the future might hold for this wonderful space and resource in our local community.

The occasion also marks the formal launch of the digital audio guide and visitor information brochure for Moybologue church and graveyard. Refreshments served afterwards.

This takes place this evening, Wednesday, August, 7:30-8:30pm in St. Mary's Hall, Tierworker, Co. Cavan.

Meanwhile, in Ballyjamesduff there will be an evening of celebration and gratitude for times gone by in the town. Teach Solais Community Development hosts the event at The Old Courthouse. The evening will include conversation, and entertainment centred around "the good old days" in Ballyjamesduff.

The event will also include a presentation on the new Ballyjamesduff Heritage Website, an opportunity to sign-up for the Ballyjamesduff Heritage Society and live entertainment from Charlie and Cian Kirwan, a violin and guitar ensemble. There will also be a show and tell table, so please feel encouraged to bring any interesting historical artefacts or photos you may have. Light refreshments will be served.

It all kicks off at 8pm this evening at the The Old Courthouse, Stradone St, A82 F1WE, Co. Cavan and is expected to run until 9:30pm.
