Francie calls time on his career

The affable Francie McCabe from Turfad, Mountainlodge, Cootehill, who has worked in Lakeland Dairies for well over four decades, is calling time on a working life that commenced in a branch creamery and store in Carrickallen, Laragh in 1977. He worked there for six years before transferring to Killeshandra, where Francis worked in various Departments over the years.

Francie is seated in the front of this picture, in a chair surrounded by his work colleagues.

The areas he worked in at Lakeland in Killeshandra were Butter, UHT, Icecream and finally, the warehouse.

Assistant site manager at Lakeland in Killeshandra, Gillian Brady, wished Francie all the best in his retirement and the health to enjoy this new phase of his life.

Francie, known for his quick wit, drove a Ford Escort car to work in Killeshandra in those early days and soon progressed to the Nissan models.

One of his work colleagues recalled his own first day at work in Killeshandra and encountering Francie for the first time and his witty advice - "don't get too comfortable about here boy".

Francie thanked all his present and former colleagues over the years for their help and comraderie in the workplace. He also thanked all those who corresponded with him in recent days to wish him well in his retirement.
