Kiernan’s seek to extend N3 service station in Cavan

Kiernan’s Service Station is seeking to extend its existing premises on the Dublin Road, Cavan Town, to include a new entrance lobby, outdoor seating area and more parking facilities.

Plans were lodged with council planners last week for permission to construct a 13sq m extension to the front and a 40 sq m extension to the rear (dry store) of the existing service station amenity building.

In addition, Kiernan’s hope to build an ancillary outdoor storage compound of 25 sq m in southeast corner enclosed by a 2.5 metre high security fence.

Modifications are also planned to the existing internal floor layout of the service station, to incorporate “revised and relocated” seating, storage and till areas. If permitted, this will result in an increase in the net retail floor area of 24.8 sq m.

New glazing and access doors, and removal of existing signage are also planned.

There will be revisions also to the existing site layout to provide for 10 car parking spaces, incorporating two EV charging spaces and two disabled spaces, a pedestrian walkway, and associated works.

Permission meanwhile is sought for the retention of an existing 50.9 sq m extension to the rear of the property and one existing food outlet (‘Chopped’) within the permitted retail unit.

A decision is due on or before November 27 before no further information is requested.
