Over 300 riders and spectators enjoyed the inaugural Castle CX Ulster Series Round 4 cyclo-cross event at Castle Saunderson near Belturbet.

Castle CX race skids back to Cavan

After making its debut at the venue last year, the Ulster Cyclocross Series is set to return to Cavan’s Castlesaunderson.

Round three of the event, which in 2022 saw riders take on a tricky terrain with many short ups and downs, will take place on Sunday, November 5.

Requiring competitors to mix skills between road cycling, mountain biking and steeplechase, dismounting at speed to carry their bikes up stairs and steep embankments, the venue was seen as “perfect” by more than 300 riders and the supporters who attended.

The Castle CX race is once again hosted by the Breffni Wheelers Cycling Club, with information online at:

Last year’s event was supported by Cavan Sports Partnership, Cavan County Council, Scouting Ireland, and Coillte, and marked the first time such a unique race was held in the historic estate.
