Sunny spells and scattered showers

Today will be another day of sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy with a chance of thunderstorms and spot flooding. Cloud will build from the south in the afternoon with a spell of rain following in the late- afternoon and evening, turning heavy in places. It may also possibly be thundery with the chance of localised flooding. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in mostly light or moderate, south to southeast winds, backing easterly or cyclonic later and strengthening. Tides will be very high along all coasts so coastal flooding is possible.

Rain will continue overnight, heavy or thundery in parts with chance of spot flooding or coastal flooding, before easing away to a few showers in southern parts during the early hours, and in other areas towards morning with fog developing in places. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees with fresh to strong easterly or cyclonic winds for a time near the coast, easing later. Winds generally light inland.

Sunday will bring sunny spells once early morning mist and fog clears, and further heavy or thundery showers with the ongoing chance of spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in mostly light to moderate variable winds.

A mix of clear spells and scattered showers overnight with fog developing in many areas. Localised heavy or thundery showers are still possible in places. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees generally in mostly light southeast or easterly winds.

Bank Holiday Monday will see fog clear through the morning to leave another day of sunny spells and showers, some heavy with thunderstorms and spot flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees generally in mostly light easterly or variable winds.

Further heavy showers expected overnight with temperatures falling to between 3 and 6 degrees. The showers becoming confined to the northeast coast by morning. Mostly light variable breezes will allow fog to develop once again.

Tuesday will have a foggy start to the morning for many with some sunny spells developing. Dry for a time but rain will move into the southwest during the morning tracking northeastwards through the rest of the day, reaching Ulster in the evening. Further spot flooding is possible due to saturated ground. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in moderate southeast winds, stronger near coasts. Further showers or longer spells of rain overnight.

Brighter on Wednesday with sunshine and showers but further rain later in the day. Turning windy or possibly stormy Wednesday night and Thursday, depending on the track of a low pressure area.
