Heavy rain will clear into sunny spells today

Rain this morning will be heavy at times, clearing later to sunny spells and showers, the rain will linger longer in the south and east. Highest temperatures 8 to 11 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes.

Some heavy and prolonged showers will affect Atlantic counties. Drier and clearer elsewhere with frost for sheltered areas. Lowest temperatures 2 to 6 degrees. Mostly light westerly breezes with some mist and fog patches forming.

Mist and fog will clear through the morning to give a day of sunny spells with scattered showers tracking eastwards, in fresh westerly winds. The showers will be heaviest across the western half of the country leading to spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.
