Two drivers fail roadside drug tests

Two drivers have failed roadside drug tests following morning checkpoints conducted by members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit

The first of the two drivers arrested tested positive for opiates, cocaine and benzos.

The second meanwhile tested positive for cannabis.

Both drivers were arrested and further samples were taken for forwarding to Medical Bureau of Road Safety.

"Please never drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs," said a garda spokesperson.
