Det Gda Donohoe remember at Cavan event

Kilnaleck native Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe received a posthumous award for his contribution to their communities through sport.

He was one of two gardaí killed in the line of duty to receive a Cóiste Siamsa Sportstar award. The other was Roscommon Garda Tony Golden.

The awards were presented at the 28th Cóiste Siamsa Sportstar award ceremony that took place at the Farnham Estate Hotel and Resort in Cavan on Friday evening.

Det Garda Donohoe was on cash escort duty when he was shot dead during a robbery at Lordship Credit Union in Bellurgan in January 2013.

Gda Golden was gunned down in October 2015 as he accompanied a domestic violence victim to collect her belongings from her home in Omeath.

They were both remembered at the Cavan event.

Cóiste Siamsa is the national governing body of sporting clubs in the garda organisation.
