New council chief to be appointed in 2024
A new Chief Executive of Cavan County Council will be appointed in 2024 after the Public Appointments Service conclude a competitive recruitment process.
In the interim, Eoin Doyle, Director of Service, will assume the role of acting Chief Executive at the local authority.
The vacancy arises following the recent retirement of Tommy Ryan from the head role.
The Roscommon native held the top role for the past eight years having spent 46 years working in local government.
A spokesperson for Cavan County Council confirmed the interim switch at the top, and that they expect “a new permanent Chief Executive will be appointed in 2024”.
“All at Cavan County Council thank Tommy Ryan for his leadership, drive, and vision, and his commitment to Cavan during his eight-year tenure, and wish him a long, healthy, and enjoyable retirement.”
