Webinar on how to ‘Greenify’ your home

Cavan Credit Union is urging members and interested parties to join a webinar that will highlight ways in which you can make your home more energy efficient and perhaps access home improvement loans under the credit union’s Greenify scheme.

Speakers at the free, online event, next Wednesday evening, November 22, will include Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, Minister of State at the Department of Finance with responsibility for Credit Unions and industry expert, Pat Kane, chief sustainability officer at Pragmatica and founder of Reuzi. Pat will give a thought-provoking talk on sustainable living, emphasising the transformative potential of individual actions in shaping a more eco-friendly future for our planet.

CEO of Cavan Credit Union, Therese Conway, said some locals will also be involved in the webinar.

“There is some great local interest too as joining the webinar will be Padraig Cahill, Greenify’s new ‘Hero Homeowner’ and myself, as CEO of Cavan Credit Union, to provide a credit union’s perspective and to speak about Cavan Credit Union working with Padraig in relation to a Greenify loan.”

Padraig and his wife Anita are currently renovating the beau tiful old Killygarry House, just outside Cavan Town.

“At Cavan Credit Union we were delighted to be able to support them in their work with the provision of a Greenify loan, which is a loan designed specifically for home energy upgrade works,” explained Ms Conway.

Padraig and Anita have done great work bringing an old house that had been unlived in for a number of years back to life and added a modern extension to make it more comfortable for 21st century family living. They carried out a lot of work to improve the energy efficiency of the house and Padraig will be speaking about this during the webinar.

Greenify is an exclusively credit union loan product and is managed by a group of credit unions, who approached Padraig and Anita to see if they would be happy for their home to be featured as a ‘Hero Home’ to show the great work that can be done in making homes more energy efficient with the support of a Greenify loan.

A video and photo shoot was held at their home during the summer, though it had to be postponed on more than one occasion due to the wet weather.

“Finally we got a good day and the resulting photos show Killygarry House, rejuvenated and renovated in the sunshine and in all its glory. As a Credit Union CEO involved in Greenify, it was great to see the loan in action and how it helps homeowners upgrade their home and make it more comfortable and sustainable. We are also very grateful to Padraig and Anita for agreeing to be the Hero Home for 2023 and being part of what will now be launched as a nationwide campaign,” said Ms Conway.

Greenify’s third annual webinar, Greenify: Your Path to a Greener, More Efficient Home, is open to everyone. The event is on Wednesday, November 22, 7pm to 8pm,

The focus of the webinar will be on sustainability in the wider context and carrying out works to your home to make it more sustainable and how Greenify can help you to do that.

“The line up of speakers provides plenty of variety and interest and there will be plenty of opportunity for audience participation and questions and answers. We hope there will be a good attendance and invite anyone who has an interest in learning more about sustainable living and Greenify to sign up by using the QR code going online at https://bit.ly/GreenifyWebinar2023 or visit www.greenify.ie” urged Ms Conway.
