High patient numbers at Cavan A&E

Two escalation notices issued earlier this month.

Hospital management at Cavan General have issued a statement advising the public that their Accident and Emergency Department is experiencing “high volumes” of patients.

The escalation notice, dated November 27, states instead asks those with non-serious illness to avoid the facility and to instead contact their GP or pharmacy for assistance.

The add however that despite difficulties, it is still providing full emergency care if it is required.

“We would appreciate your support in using alternative pathways e.g. GP, Pharmacy etc. We are still providing full emergency care if it is required.”

It follows two escalation notices issued earlier this month.
