Dignity at Cavan Pet Crematorium

Excellence in Customer Service

Based in Belturbet, Cavan Pet Crematorium provides bespoke one-to-one cremation services to families who have lost their beloved pets.

Ralph Dunne says the idea for the business came after his own experience of losing his dog Garfield and having to leave him at a warehouse door in Belfast only to return for his ashes five days later.

“It left me distraught,” recalled Ralph. “On my lonely journey home, I wished that there had been a more dignified and personal service available locally. I thought, someday, I myself, might be able to provide what I envisioned.”

Fast forward to 2023 and Cavan Pet Crematorium has established itself as a trusted and considerate business in the wider Cavan community. Ralph and Bill are running the operation from an old family business premises that has been redesigned, customised and renovated to the highest level. The facility is Government licensed, inspected and approved.

“Our equipment is state of the art and, more importantly, environmentally friendly,” added Ralph.

The team identifies with the families and their loss and pain in losing their pet. “Our crematorium was established to give pet owners the dignity of saying goodbye to their pets in professional, private and empathic surroundings.

“We offer a personalised bespoke service with a 24-hour return of ashes; same day available on request. We find that families get great comfort and closure, and have confidence that their pet is being treated with dignity and respect,” outlined Ralph.

In terms of customer care, the team at Cavan Pet Crematorium have responded outside of hours to call-outs, even over the Christmas period.

The best business advice Ralph has ever received is: “In business, dedication, transparency and consistency of service are paramount. To paraphrase Mark Twain, ‘If you do a job you love, you will never work a day in your life’.”

In terms of the future, Cavan Pet Crematorium has plans to reduce its carbon footprint further by looking into installing solar panels and transitioning to using more eco-friendly oil and fuel.

“We always give clients a little packet of wildflower seeds in memory of their pet and this also helps to promote biodiversity. We offer a wonderful service to the public and that gives us great job satisfaction.

“It’s the things you do above what you are expected to do that makes you stand out from the crowd.”
