The Well on Bridge Street in Cavan Town. INSET: Declan Sheridan

Meadow View owner snaps up two more pubs

An exciting new business venture is on the cards from Bridge Street in Cavan Town in the New Year with speculation the county town is set to get a new gastro bar and bistro type establishment.

Declan Sheridan, owner of the Meadowview Inn on the outskirts of Cavan Town, has confirmed this week that he has purchased The Congo and The Well bars on Bridge Street in the town.

The Celt reported that ‘Sale Agreed’ had been reached on the two neighbouring licensed premises back in June.

Cadden’s ‘The Well’, which is just 40 metres from Main Street and with rear access from Bridge Street car park, was first put on the market in 2021.

In addition to the pub, there is also spacious residential accommodation on the first floor comprising kitchen, living room, three double bedrooms, single bedroom and bathroom.

The nearby Congo Bar at 7 Bridge Street was relisted for sale. The property is no longer trading as a public house and was sold as having retail potential.

Mr Sheridan refused to be drawn on his plan for the properties.

However, he did say: “I don’t know if it is going to be one pub or what I’ll do but I will make up my mind over the Christmas.”
