Storm Isha updates: Power outages and fallen trees

Fire crews and emergency services out all night.

Strong winds associated with Storm Isha are likely to still bring some disruption to travel with fallen trees and powerlines reported across the county.

Many areas across the county are reporting power outages today, with fixes not expected until later this evening, circa 6pm according ESB Networks.

Some areas, such as Cavan Town, where power had been out until early this morning have had electricity return.

Fire Service emergency crews meanwhile have been working around the clock to clear debris and fallen trees.

Overnight there were trees down at on R199 at Marahill, Killeshandra; N3 Dublin Road at Poles; R188 Earlsvale Rd, Cavan Town; Cornadarragh Belturbet; R198 outside Cavan Town, at the entrance to Cavan County Golf Club; Cootehill to Bunnoe Road; Deerpark, Ballyjamesduff Rd, Virginia; blocking the blocking road between Crossdoney and Cavan; N87 at Grousehall outside Ballyconnell near Slieve Russell; at Gowlan; Killeshandra - Milltown Road at Deralk.

ESB Networks storm response plans have been in effect since the weekend and crews have been mobilising since first light to assess the damage, making the network safe and restoring electricity supply where safe to do so.

ESB Networks crews are responding where safe to do so. Given the extent of the storm, estimated restoration times will be updated through the day tomorrow and will be available on www.PowerCheck.ie and www.ESBNetworks.ie as restoration work progresses.

If anyone comes across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never, ever touch or approach these as they may be LIVE and extremely dangerous. Please report any damage to electricity infrastructure by calling 1800 372 999.
