Power outage impacting 2,000 Cavan households

Engineers from Wales are being drafted in to help fix the power supply issues in Cavan.

Approximately 2,000 Cavan households remain without power as a result of Storms Isha and Jocelyn, according to the ESB.

As of 11am this morning, the main areas impacted by power outage include Ballyjamesduff (640 customers), Cavan Town (400), Shercock (200) and Ballyconnell (120).

"All available ESB Networks resources are deployed across the county. This includes crews and partner contractors who have travelled from less impacted areas of the country," said an ESB spokesperson.

"Furthermore, ESB Networks is drafting in additional crews from our counterparts in Wales, who land at Rosslare today and will be on the ground in Cavan early tomorrow morning to assist in the restoration effort.

"We apologise for the disruption to family and commercial life this causes, and thank customers across Cavan and surrounding counties, especially those who were without power again overnight, for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power."

Real-time status on power restoration is being updated regularly and is available on www.PowerCheck.ie and www.ESBNetworks.ie.
