Demand for footpath to Lacken pitch

The need for an extension of footpath from Arkill Place to Lacken Football pitch has been highlighted by a local county councillor.

Fine Gael Councillor Winsotn Bennett tabled the motion at a recent meeting of Cavan County Council.

Speaking to The Anglo-Celt following the meeting, Cllr Bennett explained: “I’ve made the representation and hopefully it’ll be looked at.

“A lot of youngsters and people in the area are all using Lacken football pitch for walking, running and training and it would be great if we could get it done.”

Cllr Bennett explained numerous other footpaths are already on the work schedule and they must first be completed prior to Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) looking at his proposal.

“There are a couple in front of it unfortunately. They’re ahead of the posse and we were told that by the head engineer. Once you’re going out on the TII, it’s not just going to be as simple as putting in an application and getting it done.”
