It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Thomas (Tommy) Smith

Clare, Crosserlough, Cavan

The death has occurred of Thomas (Tommy) Smith, Clare, Crosserlough, Co Cavan. Tommy passed away suddenly in Cavan general hospital on the 15th of February 2024.

Predeceased by his loving wife Rose, his brother Noel and his parents Helen and Paddy.

Tommy will be very sadly missed by his daughters Mary (Jonathan), Bernie (Paddy) and Catherine (Michael), his adorded grandchildren Shauna, Sarah, Erin, Craig, Jake, Cillian, Adam, Connor & Amy Rose. Deeply regretted by his brother Patsy (Eileen USA), sister Philomena (UK), sister in law Brenda along with nephews, nieces, many friends and neighbours.

MAY TOMMY’S GENTLE SOUL REST IN PEACE

Reposing at his daughter & son in laws residence (Mary & Jonathan Reilly) Clare, Crosserlough (A82 X5D4) on Saturday evening from 2pm to 6pm and again Sunday between 2pm and 6pm. Funeral mass Monday, 19th Febuary, at 12 noon in St. Mary’s Church, Crosserlough followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Tommy’s family would like to thank his carers for their dedication and kindness throughout the years.

Andy Cassidy

Portacloghan, Milltown, Belturbet, Cavan

Andy Cassidy, Portacloghan, Milltown, Belturbet, Co. Cavan, 15th February 2024. Peacefully in the loving care of staff at Esker Lodge nursing home. Predeceased by his parents Annie and Patrick. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his dear sister Margaret, cousins, relatives and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Remains will be reposing at Lawlors Funeral Home (eircode H14 R583) on Friday evening from 5pm until prayers at 7pm. Remains will arrive for funeral mass at 11am on Saturday morning in St. Patrick’s Church, Milltown with burial afterwards in Drumlane Cemetery.

Rose Comiskey

(née Murphy)

Ballybough, Dublin / Clinty, Bawnboy, Cavan

On 14th February 2024, suddenly in the care of the Mater Hospital. Rose, beloved wife of Gerry. She will be sadly missed by her husband, sister Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at the Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview Strand on Friday (16th February) from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral on Saturday to Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fairview arriving for 10am Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St. Mogue's Churchyard, Bawnboy, Co. Cavan arriving for approximately 1.30pm.

Leslie Leahy, Drumeeney, Ballyheelan, Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan. Thursday, February 15th (peacefully) at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his brother Bunty. Deeply regretted by his sister Sadie Knight, sister-in-law Vera, nieces; Louise, Hazel, Lorna, Valerie and Freda, adored grand nieces & nephews, wider family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Briody's Funeral Home, Kilnaleck on Friday (16th) from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral on Saturday (17th) to arrive via his residence to St. Paul's Church of Ireland, Ballymachugh for Funeral Service at 3pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining Graveyard.

Sean Bradley

Main Street, Ballybay, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Sean Cathal Pio Bradley, Durham, England and formerly of Ballybay, Co. Monaghan.

Sean's funeral Mass will take place in Saint Patrick's Church, Ballybay on Saturday 17th February at 11am. Interment of ashes afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Michael McAree

Aghaboy, Tydavnet, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Michael McAree, Aghaboy, Tydavnet, Co.Monaghan. Thursday 15th February, peacefully at Mullinahinch Nursing Home.

Pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Ellen McAree, his sister Eileen Carberry (Dernagrew) and his brother Jimmy McAree (Carrickmacross). Deeply regretted by his nieces Jacinta (Leo), Martina and his family and friends.

May Michael's gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Michael's remains will repose at Mc Mahon's funeral Home, Emyvale, H18 FK80 on Saturday from 4pm - 8pm. Removal on Sunday morning from McMahon's Funeral Home (via Aghaboy) to arrive at St.Mary's Church, Urbleshanny for Funeral Mass at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to Crocus Monaghan c/o Peter McMahon, McMahon's Funeral Home, Emyvale or any family member. Michael's Funeral Mass will be streamed live on 'Tydavnet Parish RC Churches' Facebook page.
