Revolutionary Theatre for Ramor

Ramor Arts Centre will play host to the acclaimed production ‘Sean Moylan, Irish Revolutionary’ on Friday, February 23, at 8pm. Directed by Geoff Gould and written and performed by Michael Patric, one of the stars of the Oscar and BAFTA nominated Irish film ‘An Cáilín Ciúin’, the play is based on the fascinating first-hand accounts of Moylan, a senior officer of the Irish Republican Army who would later become a prominent politician and Government minister.

‘Sean Moylan, Irish Revolutionary’ is one man’s account of key events during the Irish War of Independence. A man who sacrificed, suffered, and risked his life for his country. It is a tribute to him and to all who volunteered, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice, and to their families who bear it.

In our later years, how do we feel about the actions and decisions of our youth? Did the volunteers have regrets? Feel pride? Shame or guilt? How did they deal with what we would now call PTSD with no network of support?

Written and performed by Michael Patric, (An Cailín Ciúin, Smother, Frontier) and directed by Geoff Gould, the play will take the audience through dramatic events of the period: ambush and guerrilla tactics, life on the run and the lasting effects of it all.

In true Moylan fashion, it will be intense but funny and direct but reflective. An evening sure to entertain, inform and provoke conversation.
