It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Teresa McCabe

Bailieborough Road, Virginia, Cavan / Kilnaleck, Cavan / Drumkeerin, Leitrim

Teresa McCabe (nee McHugh) Baileborough Road, Virginia and formerly of Church Road, Kilnaleck and Drumkeerin Co. Leitrim. Wednesday, February 28th (peacefully) at home in her 95th year. Predeceased by her husband Cyril. Sadly missed by her sons Jim (Audrey) & Sean (Ann), daughters Anna (Fachtna) & Eileen (Pat), her adored grandchildren; Laura, Aisling, Emer, Aine, Daniel, Stephen, Rachael, Christopher and Roy, nephew Jack (Toronto), relatives, friends and neighbours.

Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Matthew's Funeral Home, Virginia on Thursday (29th) from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Friday (1st) in St. Mary's Church, Crosserlough at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired to The Cardiac Unit, Cavan General Hospital c/o Briody Funeral Directors or any family member.

Bridget Tierney

(née Reilly)

Drumgore, Loughduff, Cavan

Tierney, Bridget, (nee Reilly) Drumgore, Loughduff, Co. Cavan, Wed 28th Feb, peacefully, in the tender care of her very devoted family, in her 109th year. Pre-deceased by her husband Patrick, son Vincent, daughter Patricia and brother-in-law Joe, her brothers James and Sonny and her sister Elizabeth. Sadly missed by her adoring family; her daughters Mary, Margaret, Pauline, Betty and Kitty, her sons John and Tom, sons-in-law; John Joe, Peter, John Joe and Colm, daughters-in-law; Maureen and Eileen. Cherished by her 30 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, her sister Kathleen, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, her close neighbours and friends.

Bridget will repose at her home in Drumgore on Thursday 29th February, from 5pm-10pm and on Friday, 1st March, from 1pm-4.30pm, all welcome during these hours. Removal to St Joseph's Church, Loughduff (H12F968), on Friday evening to arrive for 8pm. Bridget's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 2nd March, at 12pm with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. (A shuttle bus service will be in operation from Loughduff Church carpark on both evenings).

Mai Mahon

Drumasladdy, Milltown, Belturbet, Cavan

Mai Mahon (nee Carroll), Drumasladdy, Milltown, Belturbet, Co. Cavan. February 28th peacefully at Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Tommy. Deeply regretted by her loving brothers John, Jim (Moya), sisters Bridie (Her twin)(Enda), Eileen (Sean), Anna (Ollie), nephews, nieces, relatives & friends.

Rest in Peace.

Reposing at her residence (H14 TK44) tomorrow evening, Thursday, from 4 o'clock until 9 o'clock. House private at all other times please.

Removal on Friday morning arriving at St. Dallan's Church, Kildallan for funeral mass at 12 o'clock. Burial afterwards in Kildallan Cemetery.

Michael Anthony (Tony) Molloy

Killaloe, Clare / Monaghan / Kerry

Nottingham, England and formerly Killaloe, Co. Clare, suddenly at Royal Papworth, Cambridge. Predeceased by his mother Margaret (Peg) Carroll and father James (Jim) Molloy. Sadly missed by his wife Geraldine nee McQuaid, (formerly Mullaliss, Glaslough) and daughters Teresa, Tanya and Lindsey, relatives and friends.

Tony’s funeral Mass will take place in St. Mary’s Church Glennan, Glaslough, Co. Monaghan on Saturday (02/03/24) at 11 a.m. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, for the Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis charity. Funeral Mass available via live webcam here.
