Blustery day today with wind and rain

A damp and blustery start for much of the country today with outbreaks of rain pushing quickly northwards. Drier weather with sunny spells will extend from the south during the course of the morning, with the last of the rain clearing from north Ulster by early afternoon.

Maximum afternoon temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with strong and gusty southwest winds decreasing moderate during the afternoon.

Largely dry with clear skies at first on Tuesday night but cloud will thicken from the Atlantic with rain developing in the southwest later in the night. Rather cold in the north and east with lows of 0 to 3 degrees and a touch of frost possible, less cold further south and west with lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees. Moderate southeast breezes will freshen overnight.

It looks set to be mostly cloudy and rather breezy on Wednesday with outbreaks of rain affecting parts of the south and west. Plenty of dry weather in the north and east with the chance of a few bright or sunny interludes and just a few showers. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in fresh to strong southeast winds.

Staying breezy on Wednesday night with further rain and drizzle at times in the south and southwest but mostly dry elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees with fresh southeast breezes, coldest in Ulster.

Mixed and changeable weather expected. Lots of dry weather on Thursday and Friday but it looks set to turn more unsettled over the weekend.

Lots of dry and bright weather is expected on Thursday with sunny spells and patchy cloud for most. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with fresh east or southeast winds. Mostly dry early on Thursday night but cloud will increase overnight with a few showers moving in across the east and north. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees with a moderate to fresh easterly breeze.

Friday looks set to be another mostly dry day with sunny spells for many. However, the odd shower is possible in the north whilst cloudier conditions with a little patchy rain may edge in along the south coast. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, mildest in the west with a moderate to fresh easterly breeze.

On Friday night, outbreaks of rain are expected to spread across the south and east of the country but it is expected to hold mostly dry in the west and north. Minimum temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in a moderate easterly breeze, coldest in the north and northwest of the country.

It is expected to be rather cloudy across the east and south of the country on Saturday with rain at times. In western and northern areas there will be some sunny spells and the odd shower. Maximum temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh easterly winds. Further outbreaks of rain in the east and south at times on Saturday night but with more in the way of dry weather in the west and north. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, coldest in Ulster.

A good deal of uncertainty in the forecast for Mothers' Day on Sunday. At present it looks set to be a breezy and showery day. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh east or northeast winds.
