Aontú referendum poster damaged in Cavan

Matter reported to gardaí.

Cavan County Councillor and Aontú representative Sarah O'Reilly has condemned the targetting of her party's posters in Cavan Town.

It was a referendum poster and the matter has been reported to gardaí as criminal damage.

Black paint was sprayed on the poster which was positioned on a pole at Thomas Ashe Street in Cavan Town.

The incident happened on Wednesday, March 6.

Cllr O'Reilly condemned the “targetted” offence.

“When it comes to a democratic referendum defacing someone else's argument shows a lack of respect.”
