It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Kay (Kathleen) Mc Cabe

Dublin / Belturbet, Cavan

Kay (Kathleen) Mc Cabe, Charleville Road & Belturbet, Cavan, 24th March 2024, peacefully in the wonderful care the staff of Clonrarf Hospital, after a short illness.

Much loved aunt of Brian, Barry, Ian, Fidelma and Ann-Marie; missed by all her grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and great grand-nieces and great grand-nephews.

Predeceased by her brothers Anthony and Bernard, sister Eileen, sister-in-law May, nephews Kieran and Maurice.

Sadly missed by her family and wide circle of friends, including great neighbours in Charleville Road.

In line with Kay’s wishes, her body is being donated to medical research.

Rita Clarke née McCormack, Woodview and formerly of Skeagh, Bailieborough, Co Cavan died on the 23rd March 2024 peacefully surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her daughter Catherine and son Finbarr, her parents James, Katherine and brother Jimmy.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband Pat, daughters Grainne and Sinead, daughter-in-law Geraldine, sons-in-law Mark and Colin, brothers Paddy, John, Vincent, sisters Molly and Kathleen, grandchildren Sorsha, Alanna, Francis, Óisin, Ava, Grace and Fionn, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Clarke's Funeral Home, Bailieborough on Sunday 24th March from 4pm - 7pm. Removal from Clarke's Funeral Home on Monday 25th March at 10:40am to arrive at St. Anne's Church, Bailieborough for Funeral Mass at 11 o'clock. Burial afterwards in St. Anne's Cemetery. Live streaming in St. Anne's Church, Bailieborough is unavailable as the webcam is out of order.

Michael Monaghan

Dungimmon, Mountnugent, Cavan

Michael Monaghan, Dungimmon, Mountnugent, Co. Cavan, passed away peacefully on the 23rd of March, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness bravely borne.

Predeceased by his loving, wife Marie, parents Patrick and Rose, sister Mary, nephews Noel and Damien. Sadly missed by his heartbroken family Darren (Linda), Karen (Paul), Micheal (Kalina), Noreen (Niall), Rosarie (Kevin) and Maria (Martin), his sister Kathleen (Joe) and brother Patjoe (Olivia), sister in law Annjo (Thomas) and brother in law Noel (deceased Ann) and loving 19 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and wide circle of neighbours and friends.

The Monaghan family wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff of Surgical One Cavan General Hospital, Palliative Care Team and Saint Luke's Beaumont for their treatment and care towards our Dad.

Removal from Michael's home in Dungimmon on Tuesday morning, 26th March, for funeral Mass at 11am in St Brigid's Church, Mountnugent. Burial afterwards in Balinacree Cemetery.

John Prunty

The death has occurred of John Prunty, 6 Cabra, Threemilehouse, Co. Monaghan, (H18 E682), Sunday 24th March 2024, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth and their son Dominic, his parents Eddie and Bridget, and his brother Eddie.

Cherished and much loved father of Sean, Anne, Breda, Eamon, Patsy, Nuala, Noel, Kieran, Martina, Majella, Finbar and Niall. John will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his daughters, sons, 26 grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sister Margaret (Reilly, Navan), brother Patsy, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, friends and by all who knew and loved John.

John will be resting at the family home, 6 Cabra, Threemilehouse, Co. Monaghan (H18 E682) Sunday (24th) from 4pm to 9pm, Monday (25th) from 4pm to 9pm and Tuesday (26th) from 4pm to 9pm.

John's Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday (27th) at 11am in St Mary's Chapel, Threemilehouse. Funeral Mass will be live streamed and can be viewed by clicking here.

The death has occurred of Mena Thornton (née Brennan), Carrickatee, Loughmourne, Castleblayney, and formerly of Drumberagh, Lisdoonan, Co. Monaghan, peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family after a short illness, Sunday 24th March 2024. Predeceased by her parents Brian and Mary Brennan and her brothers Jemmy and Kevin. Deeply loved and sadly missed by her husband Michael, her family Barry, Caroline, Charlene, Michelle and Brian-Michael, adored grandchildren Leroy-Jay, Lola-Joy, Ailbhe, Joe, Maggie, Pearl and Beth, daughters-in-law Ciara and Sally, sons-in-law Paul, John and Paddy, beloved sister of Brian (Australia), John (Drumberagh), Mary (Milton Keynes), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross (A81 C653) on Monday afternoon from 4pm to 8pm. Removal from her residence on Tuesday morning to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Carrickatee (A71 DP97) for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
