Four arrested over phone shop heist to appear in court

Four people arrested in connection with a burglary at a phone shop in Cavan Town almost a fortnight ago, during which thousands of euros worth of expensive high-tech stock was stolen, are to appear before the courts later today.

The quartet were arrested during the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday, March 27) and it follows a break-in at a retail premises on the county town’s main street almost a forthnight ago, March 14.

Three of the four men detained at various stations across the Louth/ Cavan/Monaghan division are in their 20s.

A fourth suspect is aged in his late teens.

They were questioned for several hours yesterday before being charged.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed: “Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred at a retail premises on the 14th March 2024 at approximately 4am. A number of items were taken.”

The spokesperson added: “Investigations are ongoing.”
