Bright morning but rain not far away

Weather update from Met Éireann

Some bright spells this morning, rain in the southwest by the end of the morning will spread northeastwards to become countrywide later. Highest temperatures 13 to 16 degrees with a light to moderate southerly wind, occasionally fresh.

Cloudy tonight with rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures 10 or 11 degrees in mostly moderate southerly winds.

Rain and drizzle in the west and north, will slowly extend eastwards to all areas during tomorrow, Friday. Highest temperatures 12 to 17 degrees, warmest in the east, in moderate to fresh south to southwest winds.

Becoming mainly dry and clear overnight Friday night. Lowest temperatures 6 to 8 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

Saturday will start dry with sunny spells, rain will spread from the west in the afternoon, turning heavy in the north at times. Highest temperatures 11 to 14 degrees fresh and gusty southwest to west winds, strong for a time in the west and north.

Long clear spells on Saturday night with isolated showers in western parts. Lowest temperatures 2 to 4 degrees in mostly light to moderate southwest breezes.

Sunny spells to start Sunday, showers or longer spells of rain will develop from the west later. Highest temperatures 10 or 11 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.

Rain will be persistent and at times heavy in the west and north Sunday night, spreading east and south overnight. Lowest temperatures 3 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh and occasionally gusty westerly winds.

Sunshine and a scattering of showers on Monday, most frequent in the north. Highest temperatures 9 to 11 degrees in fresh to strong west to northwest winds.

There are indications that a northwesterly airflow will bring sunshine and showers for the midweek period next week.
